BARDSTOWN, KY (WAVE) – Tuesday will mark one month since the murder of Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis.
While the hunt for whoever committed Ellis’ murder continues, so do the tributes to honor his life. The Bardstown police department will dedicate a permanent plaque honoring Officer Ellis. The plaque will hang right next to the department’s front door.
Roxanne King, with Keith Monument Company in Elizabethtown, designed and will donate the plaque which has Officer Ellis’ picture, name and car engraved on it.
King did not know Ellis, but just a few days after learning about his death, she knew the 143 year old company had to help out, “This one affected so many people. I am on the road everyday in my job. I take that exit at least twice a week. I know where this happened and that was another reason I wanted to do something.”
King is not the only one who wanted to help. The River City FOP Lodge 614 raised just over $40,000 at a fundraiser they held on Saturday.
All of the money raised at the event will be donated to Ellis’ widow, Amy Ellis, and their two children, Hunter and Parker.
